Purple Princess Party: Part 1

We're still recuperating from a busy weekend full of purple princess parties. We had too many people to have just one party, so Mommy figured she'd host two parties!
Saturday was the royal brunch with my family. It was low-key and relatively quiet, just as I like it. And it had all elements of a perfect purple princess party.

Purple balloons.

 Purple cupcakes and sparkly sprinkles.

Purple dresses and princess crowns.

A royal throne for yours truly.

Sweet castles.

Yummy food.

Princessy presents.

Princess Baby Aiyana (and Lambie), Queen Mommy, and King Daddy.

My royal family.

And of course, my best friend.

Thank you Mommy and Daddy for making me feel like a princess on my special day.

Love and purple sprinkles,

Mommy and Daddy plan to ask me these same questions every year.

A Day Fit For a Princess

I had such a special birthday today. It all started with a purple balloon.

I went from room to room to find clues, which eventually led me to my presents (they were under my bed.)  I got the purple suitcase I had been asking for, pink binoculars, and a new flower hat.

Mommy made me my favorite blueberry pancakes for breakfast. The whipped cream was a thoughtful touch, but I preferred them without "sour cream."

Then after my favorite dinner of mac-n-cheese, we had more tasty treats that Daddy brought home.

In between birthday songs and making wishes, I blew bubbles in the sun, had lunch with some of my best friends, watched two Dora videos (!), and opened cards and gifts that came in the mail.

Mommy says that you should do all of your favorite things on your birthday, so I did. My most favorite thing being spending time with Mommy, Daddy and Aiyana.

Today was just the beginning of my 3rd birthday celebration. I still have a princess party, more cupcakes, and more family and friends to look forward to this weekend.

Thank you all for the birthday emails, calls, texts, videos, songs, cards, and presents.
I definitely felt like a princess today.

Love and happy birthdays,
Zadia Love

Finally Three!

Dearest Zadia Love,

After watching all of your friends turn three, it's finally your turn! Happy Birthday Princess Zadia!

For you, the terrible twos were actually the terrific twos. The past year has been nothing but a pleasure. I've loved watching you grow into a loving, compassionate, affectionate, perceptive, thoughtful, intuitive, articulate, and creative little girl and big sister.

I melt every time I get an unsolicited "I love you" from you (which is quite often.) I'm so proud when you give Aiyana your last carrot stick and when you offer your DogBunny to a friend when he's sad. I love that you tell me you'll miss me every morning before you leave for school. I'm impressed that you want our streets to be litter-free and that you appreciate when strangers give us the right of way on the sidewalk. I'm in awe because the baby who always wanted "more, more, more" now prefers to save half of her breakfast for a snack later in the day. You compose original songs, you invent your own games, and you select your outfits with such an artistic flare. You're adventurous and strong, but you always prefer to stay close and hold my hand. You are only three and you are already more than I could have hoped for in a daughter.

As you know, you may be getting bigger, but you will always be my baby.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Zadia Love.

Love,
Mommy

April Showers

We finally had our first day of spring-like weather in Brooklyn. We've gained some precious square footage by opening the two balconies. That makes for some happy little girls.

It also means the playground is the new late afternoon hot spot for us and our friends.

And while Aiyana was very excited about the outdoors, she was very upset that Daddy gave her the "wrong" cup. How are those for some April showers?

Love and spring sunshine,

Bread and Honey

Just a day in the life of Zadia Love.

Mommy hardly turns on the TV when we're around, but she happened to turn on American Idol while folding laundry the other day. It gave Aiyana a chance to practice her dancing skills. Watch for my bush whacking move!

Love and pretend play,

The Illusion of Happiness

We're in Massachusetts for a long weekend celebrating a belated Passover with Daddy's family. Even though we've stayed at Aunt Shira's plenty of times before, we don't really remember it so everything is new and exciting for us. But in between all of these adorable pictures of me smiling in the sunshine, was me screaming, crying, and fussing every time I didn't get my way.

Boy, sometimes being 17-months old is so hard. I mean, why can't I stand while the wagon is moving, climb a jungle gym with no shoes on, or pull the wagon through the streets all by myself? Why does Zadia get to decide who sits in the front or the back, why does Daddy insist on holding my hand, and why can't I swing solo like Zadia does? I sure hope these little disappointments are less devastating as I get older. And if you ask Mommy and Daddy, I'll bet they'd hope for the same :)

Love and tiny tantrums,
Aiyana Eden
