6 Months Old: Getting Bigger

Today is a big day--Aiyana is six months old! She's getting bigger,
but she's still my little baby sister.

Aiyana Eden, 6 Months Old

And if you ask me (or just about anybody), the older she gets, the more she looks like a Nicastro--certainly in the mouth, but Mommy says in the ears too.

And even though Aiyana looks more like Mommy's side of the family than I do, you can still tell that we're sisters.

Probably a Lollipop

Daddy took a three night business trip to the west coast. Aiyana and I have been exceptionally good since he's been gone, perhaps because there was some mention of a prize when Daddy returns.

Mommy: "Zadia, Daddy comes home tonight! When you wake up in the morning, Daddy will be here!"
Zadia: "Daddy's bringing me and Aiyana a present!"

Mommy: "Yes, that's right!"
Zadia: "It's probably a lollipop."

Mommy: "Oh yeah? You think it's a lollipop?"
Zadia: "Yeah! Or probably a hot dog."

Mommy (laughing): "Hmmmm...maybe."
Zadia: "Or a screwdriver probably."

Mommy (laughing even harder): "Zadia, I love you."
Zadia: "No, it's a lollipop. A big one for me, and a little one for Aiyana."

Needless to say, Mommy texted Daddy right away and told him he had better come home with a lollipop!

5.5 Months: Happiest Baby On The Block

5.5 months old, 12.5 lbs, and super happy!

And hip. Did I mention she's the hippest baby on the block, too?

And They Meet Again

Cousins Aiyana and Anthony were reunited over my birthday weekend. They haven't seen each other since Christmas, and they've both grown so much since then. Perhaps one a little more than the other?

What's round and smooth and cute all over?

Anthony's head!

Aiyana has a thing for Italian noses.

And she puts everything in her mouth. (And other people's mouths.)

Lots of padding.

Adorable comes in many sizes.

Typical boy, typical girl.

All lips. All eyes.

Total opposites, and totally adorable.

It's My Party and I'll Wear What I Want To

I woke up late from my nap on Saturday, which meant some of my party guests had already arrived. For someone who's slow to wake up and even slower to transition, the start of my party was a bit rocky for me.

Like most days,  I refused to get dressed. In the end, the only way to get me into my party dress was for Mommy and Aunt Kelley to distract me with tiaras for me and DogBunny.

Mommy bought matching gold sandals for me to where, but of course, I refused the pretty sandals and insisted on sneakers. (Mommy didn't care too much, since they still sort of matched.)

After I made it clear that it was my party and I'll wear what I want to, my frown was turned upside down.

There were balloons.

Smooches with family and friends.

And a rainbow theme to represent my colorful personality.

Even Aiyana got into the spirit with her rainbow leg warmers.

(Which I later borrowed from her.)

Mommy made me my favorite apple cake, mini cupcakes, and homemade ice cream. Daddy says I ate six cupcakes, but mostly I just dropped the sprinkles everywhere and licked the frosting off.

I loved having my favorite people near, opening presents, and indulging in sweets. And if Mommy and Daddy thought I was a handful before, now I'm TWO big (and adorable) handfuls!

Thanks for celebrating me. xo

My Birth Day

I did it! I turned 2, and had a great time doing it!

My big party isn't until Saturday, but Mommy made sure we celebrated Zadia Love all day today.

Daddy bought me the blue bicycle that I have been asking for.

And Mommy got me some pint-sized chairs to go with the big blue watering can on my balcony.

After presents and a blueberry pancake breakfast, it was off to the kiddie salon to get pampered.

I sat incredibly still for my haircut, and have a bouncy, curly bob to prove it.

I earned a pink balloon for my good sportsmanship at the hair salon, and practiced counting to two on my fingers.

Then it was off to the playground for a birthday swing.

I had a long nap, then zoned out to my favorite Monkey George (a.k.a. Curious George) while Mommy prepared a special dinner for me, my friend Ollie, and his Mama and Papa.

I hadn't seen Ollie since last week, so we were super excited to have an early evening dinner date.

We played with my new cupcakes and sang "Happy Birthday" to each other over and over again.
(Thanks for the birthday present, Cathy!)

And finally, it was time for my custom birthday dinner--hamburgers, sweet potato fries, chopped spinach salad, and pickles--all things I love. But like typical 2-year-olds, Ollie and I were too busy playing to sit and eat.

So instead, we sang more "Happy Birthday" to each other while the adults ate.

That is, until it was cake time. I requested an apple cake, so naturally, that's what Mommy made me.

The birthday girl had the biggest piece of cake.

And we were allowed to eat it with our hands!

Yes, it was my birthday, but it was a whole family celebration.

I was exhausted so it was straight to bed for me. But not without the Happy Birthday book.

It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.

Who's Turning Two?

If you're reading this after 4:50am today, then it's official--I'm 2!!!

But with my skinny jeans and backpack, I don't look a day over 5!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Big Blue Watering Can

My cousins Jadon and Ronen came for brunch on Sunday. I opened an early birthday present from them and all I wanted to do the rest of the day was play with (what I cleverly called) "my big blue watering can."

Mommy wishes Ronen lived in Brooklyn so she could hire him as her mother's helper.
