Dress Up Isn't Just For Big Girls

I'm not sure who loves dress up more--Me or Zadia. My big sister has been my inspiration and has taught me well.

But I have a mind and a style all my own. I thoughtfully select each piece, bring it to Mommy with a sense of purpose, and she helps me layer my pieces with perfection. Future fashion designer?

Sunset Beach

We finally made it to the beach on the evening of our last full day in Israel. It's a good thing, because it was probably one of our favorite parts of the trip (besides the stray cats and the mini-fridge in our room at the B&B.)

Tide was high, so we didn't go too far. But we didn't have to venture very far to find the most "beutipul, beutipul" shells in the whole world. Zadia collected shells for all of her family in Israel and her friends at school. And a special one for herself that sat right next to her while she slept. And of course, she wore the clown princess skirt...AGAIN!

I also liked collecting shells but I couldn't exactly differentiate between the shells and the garbage. Oh well. A little dirt and a little sand never hurt anyone.

Fun and Games (+ Food)

Our one night at the B&B was the first night since we arrived that Aiyana and I slept well. It took me and Aiyana exactly five days to reset ourselves to Israeli time.

A good night's sleep did us all well. We woke up rested, refreshed, and ready to play.

Speaking of play...I played a great round of hide and seek with Uncle Hillel the night before. If it weren't for my dirty feet, you probably wouldn't be able to find me, huh?

Anyway, after a sunny morning of outdoor time, all fifteen of us headed to Nazareth for some sightseeing. Time restrictions didn't leave us time for anything but lunch, so unfortunately all of the pictures of us from that day are with food in our mouths. (The pita and hummus really is better here!)

Sadly, our vacation is already coming to an end and we fly back to NYC tomorrow. But to Mommy's relief, we did manage to get to the beach for a bit today. So stay tuned for more great pictures of your two pa-bor-ite (that's favorite in Zadia speak) Dorons.

Love and more to come,

Zadia the Explorer

Daddy's stepmom, Becky, booked us all a night at a bed and breakfast two hours north of Tel Aviv. It was a quaint little place on the top of a steep hill overlooking green, rolling hills and farmland. There were fifteen of us in total and I wanted to be the princess of the whole land, so I wore my new favorite outfit.

Our room had a mini-fridge that I immediately claimed as my own, and I loved that I could frequently offer people (and help myself to) snacks and drinks.

I could have stayed and played "restaurant" all day long, but Mommy and Daddy finally convinced me to be like Dora the Explorer and go on an adventure with the rest of the family. Reluctantly, I went on a hike (in my princess skirt, of course) and I'm glad I did because Aiyana and I had a great time exploring the hillside together and with the family.

Jet Lag

What were you doing at midnight last night? I should have been sleeping, but instead I was eating a midnight snack with the grown ups. Jet lag? I think so.

We arrived in Israel safely on Saturday afternoon. The flight went well, except that Aiyana only slept for about three hours (it was an overnight flight) which means Mommy and Daddy slept for even less time. This would have been fine if Aiyana and I slept once we got here, but we've been going to bed between midnight and 3am, and waking up a mere six hours later.

And since we've been making up for lost nighttime sleep by taking three hour naps during the day, it's been pretty difficult to make plans because one of us is always sleeping.

That being said, we're still having a great time. There are twelve of us staying at the house and endless visitors coming in and out. Hopefully we'll get pictures of everyone soon.

Besides, I'm pretty excited to help Becky with the everyday things, like walking Jerry and grocery shopping. Becky and Hillel picked out a princess/clown dress for me to wear for Purim this week, but I'm pretty happy to wear my new dress even when running errands.

Aiyana has been spending lots of time outside chasing stray cats.

And when we're not doing that, we're jumping on the backyard trampoline or swinging at the local playground.

Mommy's hoping our naps will coordinate enough today that we'll have a few hours where we can venture more than a few blocks from home. The beach is a short walk, so at the very least, maybe we'll have time to take a stroll over there.
