Imagination Playground

We have another fun playground to add to our list this summer. Imagination Playground was tucked away on a little street near the South Street Seaport, right next to a movie shoot (only in NYC!)

Mommy took us to the playground for the large building blocks, but we ended up being most interested in the sand and water.

It was no surprise that Zadia wore long pants and a long-sleeved shirt (her favorite outfit) on a sunny, 80 degree day. And it was even less of a surprise that I ended up in just my diaper (my favorite outfit.)

The only way Mommy could get us to leave the playground was to tell us we'd see Daddy on the way home. (Daddy works a few blocks from the Seaport, so we did actually sneak in a little visit!)

Love, with a dash of sand and a drip of water,

Mud Is Not Fun

We made a spontaneous visit to the Prospect Park Zoo the other day with Ollie, his sister, and Mama. As if it wasn't bad enough that I had an accident on the way over and had to wear Ollie's shorts (and they weren't pink or purple, so you can imagine how well that went over), I then fell in the mud while trying to walk across some lily pads on the Discovery Trail. "I want to go home. Mud is not fun!"

Mud is not fun!

I was already wearing the one spare pair of shorts between all of us (see above) when I fell knee-deep in the mud (also, see above.) So Mommy made me a sarong out of a doll blanket while she washed and dried my clothes. I kind of liked the make-shift sarong, but Mommy said my bootie was hanging out (sorry no photo) so I had to take it off and put on Aiyana's tiny shorts. I was not happy.

Miraculously, I recovered from both mishaps, and we all went on to enjoy ourselves.

Hand-peeled plums.

Aiyana, you have to get closer, like this!

Udderly cute.

"Aiyana turn."

Seriously mom, can we get a fish already?

Aiyana looking adorable wearing Ollie's shorts. (Long story.)

More of my friends showed up. Tag, you're it!

Impromptu interpretative dance performance.

This may surprise you, but I'm not the most flexible 3-year-old. Needless to say, Mommy was very proud of me for having two messy accidents and three outfit changes and still sticking it out at the zoo.

Special Visitors

We're so excited to have some special visitors from Israel here this week--Becky and Uncle "Hero" (that's Hillel in Zadia-speak.) They're renting an apartment right near one of our favorite playgrounds. How convenient for us!

Hillel is like the big brother I always wanted.

And Becky is such a good sport. She took Aiyana up and down the block numerous times pretending to look for a gray kitty cat that Becky knew had already run away.

Mommy says Becky and Hillel might come and stay in Brooklyn for a whole year! Fingers crossed!

Boats, Treehouses, and Bikes

Mommy had a great night out with friends on Saturday, but on her actual birthday, all she wanted was a fun family day. When she asked me if I wanted to go on a boat OR to the beach, I replied smartly, "I want to go on a boat TO the beach." Good answer. But since the last beach visit had us shooing away horse flies, Mommy thought a ferry to Governor's Island was a safer bet.

It was a very long day, but with one fun discovery after another, we were excited and entertained and didn't really mind skipping our naps.

The boat ride was all that we hoped it would be.

The ferry left and we aren't on it.

Is the ferry here yet?

Birthday girl and her girls.

Beautiful views of Manhattan.

We had a blast with the kid (and environmentally) friendly sculpture installation on the island.

Re-purposed milk jug and water bottle cloud.

I can be very dangerous with a club in my hand.

If only I would keep the rubber band in my hair.

An actual tree house!?!?

Gotta love Brooklyn artists.

Popcorn lover. Hair band hater.

But perhaps the bicycle ride was the highlight of the day.

A bicycle built for four.

Co-pilot.

Kodak moment.

Thanks for making your day a celebration for the whole family. We love you Mommy!

Supermarket Superheroes

Even a short, three-block walk to the grocery store is an adventure with the Doron girls. Especially when Zadia decides we should dress as superheroes.

Superheroes are not afraid of a little wind.

Superheroes are master climbers and have great balance.

Superheroes are frilly and photogenic.

Superheroes walk the streets of Brooklyn looking for people that need help.

And superheroes always carry their own groceries.
