Adorable Sister Moments

There are too many to document. Here are just a few from recent weeks.

Dressing my big sister.

A terrified passenger.

Smoothies for dinner.

"Piggy-back. Piggy-back."

But You're My Best Friend

Audrey and I are a good match for each other. We're both silly, compassionate, opinionated, and determined. And we both like dress up, princesses and dancing. Plus, we both have baby sisters who are the same age. Oh, and our mommies both like wine, but that has nothing to do with why we're friends :)

Audrey and I have been spending a lot of time together this summer. She and her little sister, Aisley, came over for pizza and a movie on Friday night. The little sisters were really into the water table.

While the big sisters dressed each other in pink clothes and sparkly hair accessories.

Then on Saturday we all had ballet. Mommy took me and Audrey to the playground while the little ones had their class. We took turns drinking out the water fountain.

Played follow the leader (we both like to be the leader, of course.)

And shared some frozen yogurt together.

At one point I offered Audrey my hand and tried to help her across the jungle gym, but she insisted on doing it herself. So I pleaded, "But you're my best friend!"

That's the first time I really called someone my best friend, and Mommy thought it was the sweetest thing.

Love and best friends (at least for today),

2 out of 3 Ain't Bad

I had three things on my list for when Nona and Poppy came:

1. Go to the beach.
2. Go to Coney Island
3. Go on a boat.

We went to the beach on the first full day Nona and Poppy were here. We drove an hour and a half to a beautiful beach, only to realize that getting eaten by horse flies is not very fun at all.

We were only there long enough to get a photo and eat half of a PB&J, then I wrapped myself in Poppy's shirt to protect myself from the flies, grabbed a frozen lemonade, and begged to go home.

And we went to Coney Island on Nona and Poppy's last full day, which was a bit more successful. The subway ride itself was exciting.

And the beach and boardwalk were nice ways to kill time while we waited for the park to open.

I went on some big girl rides with Uncle Jude or by myself, while Aiyana went on the "horsie."

But I told Mommy the rides weren't much fun because my baby sister wasn't on them with me. So we rode the rest of the rides together.

Mommy and Uncle Jude were going to ride the Cyclone, but Aiyana had a meltdown right about then so we pushed her around until she cried herself to sleep.

I cooperated (for part of the day, anyway) so I was rewarded with a treat--my very first taste of cotton candy! It was delicious and oh so fuzzy!

Nona and Poppy, it was so much "pun" having you here. I'm so glad we got to cross some things off my TO DO list. But you need to come back because we still need to go on a boat together!

Boogie Down Bronx

We spent Sunday relaxing with the family on a picnic blanket in the Bronx.

Backseat nap.

Lots of hot air.

Mmmm...sangria.

Aiyana's buddy, Uncle Ahmadu.

Bubble blowing.

Pretty kite, but no wind.

Thanks for the watermelon, Uncle Jude.

Mommy didn't bring the stroller, but this will do just fine.

Ready. Set. Race.

No shirt. No surprise.

A late afternoon cuddle.

Lemon$de

For several days after our lemonade stand in East Hampton, I asked Mommy and Daddy to help me set up another one. We finally had a leisurely Sunday morning where selling lemonade seemed to be the only way to start the day. It's quite a project you know? Buying the lemons, squeezing the lemons, painting the sign, scouting out a location, devising a business plan, setting up the stand, packing a backpack full of toys, etc. It took us about two hours to open for business, but we sold out in less than twenty minutes.

Turns out we have some really thirsty people in our building, who also just happen to love lemonade.

Staycation

Mommy and Daddy will celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary next week. They had planned to celebrate somewhere tropical, but decided to stay local instead. They're on a 48-hour staycation in Manhattan, and Zadia and I are back in Brooklyn with Nona and Poppy. Hmmm...I wonder who's having a better time?

Let's see. We had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants with Nona and Poppy.

...followed by ice cream with Uncle Jude.

Then yesterday morning we braved the 100 degree weather and went to the playground.

After which we were soaking wet, so we got ourselves dressed in our favorite outfits. Me in nothing but a diaper and rain boots.

And Zadia in three pieces, all with mismatched patterns (I hear that's really in style now, actually.)

Although I have to admit, lounging by the rooftop pool on a hot day does look pretty fun too.

But as far as we're concerned, not even a pool on a hot day is more fun than a movie night with Nona and Poppy.

Mommy and Daddy, we know you're just over the bridge and we're so glad you're enjoying your time away together. You deserve it! And don't worry about us--we're being very good girls and are having a blast with Nona and Poppy. But we do miss you and can't wait for you to come back. (Oh, and don't forget--you said you'd bring us presents.)

Love and Manhattan staycations,
