Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel

With Thanksgiving and Hanukkah last week, we've been doing lots of celebrating. We had a small and lovely Thanksgiving dinner at home with our menorah-lighting friends from the 9th floor.

And then on Friday we were off to Massachusetts for some dreidel spinning and gift opening with our cousins.

Aiyana and I were blessed with lots of great gifts--earrings, a zoo membership, books, art supplies, and clothes.

Not to mention headphones, a suitcase, and a zebra umbrella.

We both loved Nana's brisket, but neither of us would try the latkes. And we had a really good time with the Secret Snowflake poems. Ronen has me as his Secret Snowflake, so he wrote a poem about me:

Purple, purple, purple
You love purple, but I don't.
You have a sister, and I won't
It's funny when you say "punny"
Now let's spin the dreidel and eat chocolate money!

You can probably guess who Mommy's Secret Snowflake was:

cock-a-doo
i see sun, no see moon
behind the clouds

i like your shirt, dada
i see the brooklyn bridge
no snap, half way

i like your hair, mama
i see the clock tower
no shoes, too tight

go away, no see zadia
want cottage cheese and toast
no jeans, too tight

pat me, pat zadia
i have paper in my butt
just joking, g'night mama

Did you guess Aiyana?

On Sunday we had a nice visit with Papa, and even more quality time with our cousins.

Presents and chocolate coins are great, but time spent with family and friends is even better.

Love and holiday thanks,
Zadia Love
