8.5 Month Update

My favorite food is cheese.
I prefer to feed myself, even though it's messy.

I'm officially crawling on all fours.
I'm very flexible.

I'm anxious to walk.
I can roll a ball to you if you ask me to you.

I love to talk.
I have two top teeth and two bottom teeth.

I still have an outtie.
I still suck my thumb.

I'm most comfortable on my knees.
I bounce when I hear music.

My hair is starting to curl.
I love Mr. Sock Monkey.

Winter Wonderland

We captured my first snowflakes while in Virginia.

And we caught the tail end of my first blizzard from the window
seat, as we arrived back in Brooklyn.

Air Time

Uncle Cory likes to throw me around a bit. Literally.

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,

We've been very good this year. We hope you like the snacks we left you. There are some carrots for the reindeer, too. Merry Christmas!

Love,
Zadia & Ysabella

I couldn't wait to get up and see if Santa came. I was up at 5am and finished off the cookie crumbs he left behind, and then Mommy and I watched A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Ysabella and I had a special tree just for us with flowers, cupcakes, cookies, and lollipops all over it.

I got everything I wanted, and more!

Clothes, blocks, a puzzle, new hats and bows, and my very first laptop.

Daddy got a little silly,

Uncle Du and I got a little snuggly,

and Mommy and I got a little matchy-matchy.

But it was Nona and Poppy who got two of the best Christmas presents ever.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

This was the first time Mommy and Daddy celebrated Christmas in Virginia, instead of at Mommy's childhood home in upstate New York. It was a little new to them, but it was all new and exciting to me.

Aunt Kacey and Uncle Cory hosted Christmas Eve at their house. In between eating, eating, and more eating, I sang Christmas carols, played with my cousin Ysabella, and showed off my pretty green holiday dress.

Let me out of here. Please?

Shiny, happy baby.
No snow in Virginia, but lots of love.
This is one of the few pictures where I'm sitting nicely, and not trying to climb off the fireplace, head first.

Ok Ysabella. How about if I look this way, and you look that way? Surely, that will make for a great picture together.

This is what I do when you dangle a jingle bell (or a piece of cheese, yummy!) above my head.

Polka-dots and jingles all the way.

And Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Here Comes Santa Claus

I heard the real Santa was going to be delivering my presents in Virginia this year, so here I am. Luckily, I have a few friends to keep me company while I await old St. Nick.

Coordinated Slam Dunk

Mommy says she doesn't know what's cuter--my hand/eye coordination, or my pajama/bedroom-decor coordination. Either way, it's a slam dunk!

A Tale of O and Z

Oliver came over again this morning while his Mama went to the gym.

We almost always play nicely together.

And like an old married couple, we can also be in the same room, while doing separate things.

Every once in a while we have a tug-o-war over the best toys.

But at the end of the day, we never go to sleep mad at each other.

Tight Spaces, Safe Places

We ventured up to the Bronx to visit Auntie Kelley and Uncle Du over the weekend. I'm very portable, but my bed isn't. So when it's time to go to sleep, and you have limited space, we have to get creative.

Big Eyes

I'm not really sure why everyone calls me "Big Eyes."

Daddy's Favorite

This is (one of) Daddy's (many) favorite picture(s) of me.

Girlie Girls

I had a big-girl play date with Gemma, the 17-month-old that Auntie Kelley takes care of.

Gemma's apartment is a little bigger than mine. And so is her toy box.

Gemma sat me down and showed me how to host a proper tea party.

We ate lunch together and I traded a few bites of my cheddar-brocolli nuggets for a few bites of Gemma's animal crackers. Then I had my bottle, and Gemma wanted me to share that too.

After lunch we got suited up in our aprons and chef's hats cause it was time to make the donuts.

Some day (when I'm tall enough) Daddy will buy me a kitchen set just like this one.
